This new 54,000 square foot library consisted of a four-level structure boasting high-technology distant learning center, café and lounge, and numerous reading areas. The building features a bell-shaped dome metal roof, a full brick and cast stone masonry veneer, and a courtyard amphitheater to complement. This project presented Grae-Con with numerous obstacles, including a design that needed to be value engineered, a condensed site with no lay-down area on site, a short time frame with winter masonry operations (16 months), and an impressive 1,600 cubic yard monolithic nighttime foundation pour.
